Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of brioche or challah bread, cubed
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk (or nut/oat milk for dairy-free)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Layer the cubed bread in a baking dish, packing them closely.
  3. Whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon until well combined.
  4. Pour the custard over the bread, ensuring each piece is soaked.
  5. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or overnight for best results.
  6. Bake for 45-50 minutes, until the top is golden and edges are caramelized.
  7. Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar and drizzled with maple syrup.

Notes

For a richer flavor, allow the casserole to soak overnight. Creative additions can include chocolate chips, fresh fruit, or spices like pumpkin spice.
