A comforting and flavorful butter chicken recipe, perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound chicken breasts, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, minced
  • 1 can (15 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish
  • Basmati rice, for serving
  • Naan, for serving

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken with yogurt and spices for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Heat butter in a pan and sauté onions until soft.
  3. Add garlic, ginger, and spices, cooking until fragrant.
  4. Stir in the diced tomatoes and simmer to create the sauce.
  5. Add the marinated chicken, cooking until tender and coated with the sauce.
  6. Finish with heavy cream and mix well.
  7. Serve over rice, garnished with fresh cilantro, with naan on the side.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute cream with coconut milk. Adjust spices according to your heat preference.
