A delightful blend of rich chocolate and fresh strawberries, perfect for celebrations or satisfying your sweet tooth.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (for frosting)
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder (for frosting)
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your cake pans.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, salt) in a bowl.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the dry mixture and beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  4. Stir in boiling water until well combined.
  5. Pour the batter into prepared cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  6. Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes and then remove to wire racks to cool completely.
  7. Beat the butter for the frosting until fluffy, then gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa.
  8. Assemble the cake by layering with frosting and strawberries.
  9. Finish with a smooth layer of frosting and garnish with additional strawberries.

Notes

For a dairy-free option, substitute butter with coconut oil and use dairy-free chocolate.
